Northeastern Ohio is developing the first freshwater offshore wind project in North America. It is being managed by a premier development and construction team led by Freshwater Wind. The project enjoys broad-based community support and is being sponsored by the Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo).
The Opportunity for Ohio:
- Offshore wind is poised to become a major source of jobs this decade
- Infrastructure and jobs will coalesce where the first projects are built
- Goal is to make Ohio the epicenter for offshore wind development in the Great Lakes
- LEEDCo and the team are working to make sure this opportunity does not pass us by
- A catalyst in capturing the industry is a small project off of Cleveland – nominally 25 MW
